I am an exceptionally wise creative being who believes in God and treating people with love and respect. At age 15 I learned how to burn on vinyl and was taught how to cut tape, I built my first studio in the basement of a Dog N Suds restaurant in my hometown. I got my family together and also opened a successful family-run video rental & repair store “VideoMix” in my hometown of Harvey Illinois. I worked for United States Postal Service and In December of 1985 I went to see a Oprah Winfrey Show, I met Stevie Wonder before he went on air with Oprah that meeting changed my life. With the blessings of my family and my uncle Yusef Lateef, I packed my bags and headed to Los Angeles.
On January 1, 1986, I moved to California and dove into television and film. Later that year I worked on Stephen Cannell’s successful series “US Customs Classified”. I built solid relationships with many television / film industry movers and shakers and started producing my own music and film projects. I was introduced to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Music Team who were all ghost producers for the hit show. In the late 80’s, streaming came onto the scene, so a few partners and I joined together to build a television/streaming portal company I used my marketing and business knowledge to helped build their brand to 170,000.000 viewership. I worked as Program Manager / Lead Editor / Music Supervisor / Lead Control Room Tech / Archives Administration Director / Executive Producer and Director; I mentored and taught all the young talented producers and editors in pre/post and live production.

DR. MERIL S. PLATZER
Dr Meril Platzer. has been a Neurologist for over 30 years in the Los Angeles area. A single mother of three, one with special needs Autism and a younger son who recently attempted to commit suicide. My journey has not been easy…
When I entered Medical School only 10% of the class were women. We had to prove ourselves by obtaining better grades as well as the ridicule of why we wanted to be a doctor. Discrimination existed with the patients and families assuming we were nurses or served other jobs in the hospital setting. Over time, the climate of the medical world changed with more women and minorities entering the field of medicine. The doors opened slowly.
I was one of the first female Neurologists in the San Fernando Valley and have survived successfully in the community 32 years. Recently I experienced the anguish of being a mother of a child who wanted to take his own life. The pain of a child’s suffering is unbearable. The treatment of a family member in the hospital setting was below the standard of care. Fighting for my child’s survival and ensuring good care was a challenge. I have learned to be an advocate for my patients and used my expertise and resilience to obtain the best care I could for my son. My passion is excellent patient care but more importantly respect for those patients and families.
I’m a survivor! I maintained a solo practice as a Neurologist, single mother of three children, advocate for the American Academy of Neurology, knocking on the doors of Congressmen and Senators in Washington DC and an expert in the field of dementia especially Alzheimer’s dementia locally and on a more national level. Early detection and quality of the Alzheimer’s patient are important and what I strive for. I have been an expert for Alzheimer’s patients and their families including the Donald Sterling trial. It is not always easy to be in this position and at times have been criticized and bullied to change my position which I never succumbed to.
Perseverance, Passion, and Time Leads to Success!
